Five Candles For The Cloud

• Sending our best wishes to our longtime friend and former Fresno radio colleague Chuck Lontine, owner of MainStreet Media of Colorado, who, against all odds — including a global pandemic — just reached a major milestone in the western suburbs of the Denver-Boulder market — his Classic Hits/Alt hybrid 96.9 The Cloud, turned five years old on Valentine’s Day, all accomplished using very low power AM and a small chain of FM translators in Boulder and Golden, CO.

The Cloud operates entirely in the “cloud” with virtually no employees and a fully programmatic “touchless” go-to-market program for its advertisers which Lontine developed prior to the pandemic.

The station’s inaugural voices were Josh Goodman and Dennis Constantine. Other prominent Cloud voices including Patty Steele from WCBS-FM/New York, former KQMT/Denver vets Mike Casey and Dan Mitchell; Bill Cochran, formally of KKVM (104.7 The Mile)/Vail, CO, Jon Wilde (ex-KOSI/Denver); Patti Ford from WLAN/Lancaster, PA and voiceover artist Denise Kelly, all of whom have worked with Lontine all over the country during his 45-year career where Chuck held sales and management positions at WLS/Chicago, KOME/San Jose, The Howard Stern Show at WYSP/Philly and has worked with John Lander, Scott Shannon, Steve Kingston, Garett Michaels and one Kevin Carter.

“I’ve had a very fun radio ride around the country with some remarkable people at some of the best stations on earth,” Lontine tells RAMP. “But at the end of the day, the only thing I love more than radio is my family. And it feels great to have built my little group in my hometown.” Chuck can be reached at chucklontine@icloud.com, and go ahead and stream The Cloud at http://thecloud.fm.
