iHeart Opens Austin ALT Office
• iHeartMedia just opened the newest branch office of the company’s ALT franchise, this time in Austin, with the launch of ALT 97.5, The New Alternative (KASE-HD2). “We’re thrilled to bring ALT 97.5 to the Austin airwaves!” said Brian Gann, Regional SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Austin-San Antonio. “We know this format will resonate with our listeners, and we are beyond happy to show Austin the New Alternative, ALT 97.5.”
ALT 97.5 is under the command of Zac Wellsandt, who also programs Top 40 KHFI (96.7 Kiss FM) and Rhythmic KPEZ (102.3 The Beat). The new station will feature The Woody Show Monday through Saturday mornings from 6-10am. The rest of the weekday jock line-up looks like this: Wendy Rollins (middays), Klinger (afternoon drive) and Mike Jones (7-midnight).
ALT 97.5 resides on the frequency formerly occupied by Pride Radio Austin, which has relocated up the dial a tad to 102.3 (KPEZ-HD2) and is still available at prideradioaustin.com and on the iHeartRadio app.
