Lawson Gets KOSI With Bonneville Denver

• Mile High radio pro Jim Lawson has been named PD of Bonneville AC KOSI 101.1/Denver, effective Tuesday, January 2. Lawson (pictured) had spent the past 16 years with iHeartMedia, most recently as SVP of Programming for the company’s eight-station Denver cluster until May 2017. Prior to that, Lawson served the dual role as SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Colorado Regional Markets — Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Ft. Collins and as Hispanic Brand Manager for the company’s National Programming Platforms. Lawson joined Clear Channel in 2001 as PD of KFMD (Kiss 95.7)/Denver. Prior to that, he helped launch one of the industry’s first Modern AC stations, KALC (Alice 105.9)/Denver. Lawson’s extensive radio career also includes multi-format experience in programming and on-air roles in at B96 and WGN/Chicago, WLUM (Hot 102)/Milwaukee and WVIC/Lansing, MI.

“I’ve known Jim for years and had to compete against him many times,” said Bob Call, VP/Market Manager of Bonneville Denver. “I decided that’s enough competing and brought Jim to KOSI 101.1 to lead our legendary AC brand. Jim brings enormous knowledge and experience leading top-rated radio stations, along with the unique perspective of having now worked at all of the markets’ AC radio stations. Getting someone of Jim’s experience and accomplishment to lead KOSI is exciting.”

Lawson commented, “I’m humbled and honored to join Bonneville and work alongside Bob Call, a person I’ve admired as a competitor for over 20 years. The opportunity to program an iconic brand like KOSI 101.1 and continue to build on its success is a dream come true.” Lawson succeeds Andy Holt, who is headed to sunny Miami as the new PD of Entercom AC WLYF (101.5 Lite FM) and Classic Hits WMXJ (102.7 The Beach).
