Kempton Named PD of WASH/DC
• Jill Kempton has been named PD of iHeartMedia AC 97.1 WASH-FM/Washington, effective December 11. Kempton earns the PD upgrade from sister WTLW (106.7 Lite fm)//New York, NY, where she most recently served as APD/MD and Imaging Director. Kempton spent the first eight years of her radio career at WBEB/Philadelphia and is a graduate of Temple University.
Kempton starts her new adventure on December 11 and reports to Jeff Kapugi, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Washington, DC Region. “There’s been a lot of momentum on WASH-FM this year and Jill has been a part of that remotely,” said Kapugi. “Now she gets to build on that here in Washington to dominate the very competitive AC format.” Kempton said, “I’m very excited for this next chapter in my career. I want to thank everyone involved and I can’t wait to get started working alongside some of the greatest programming minds in our business.”
• This news marks the second PD announcement in as many days for iHeartMedia DC — yesterday we reported that WFLZ/Tampa PD Rob Kruz had been named as the new PD of Top 40 WIHT (Hot 99.5)/Washington. Kruz and Kempton succeed Tommy Chuck, who is moving back to Tampa as the new SVP of Programming for the company’s 14-station Tampa-Sarasota Area and PD of Country WFUS (US103.5).
