Sandler Kicks In $10K To Toy Drive
As you are probably well aware, CBS Radio’s KLUC/Las Vegas and Chet Buchanan & the Morning Zoo are home to the World’s Largest Single Location Toy Drive. Chet is currently in the middle of his 18th annual Toy Drive, and as usual, he’s spending 12 days of this month camped out atop a swaying, chilly, 30-foot-high platform in the parking lot of the NV Energy Center on West Sahara Avenue, fully in command of his annual labor of love that collects massive numbers of toys, bikes, cash and gift cards for kids in Southern Nevada.
The 2016 Toy Drive recently received a major cash infusion, thanks to the generosity of actor/comedian Adam Sandler, the owner of Happy Madison Productions, who recently did a two-night stint at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, and like most guests to Las Vegas, he heard about the World famous 98.5 KLUC Chet Buchanan & the Morning Zoo Toy Drive. Sandler was so blown away by Chet’s charitable efforts, he said he wanted to contribute — hey, how does $10,000 sound? Adam’s nephew Jared and niece Jillian climbed up onto Chet’s precarious perch to personally present the check on behalf of their generous uncle.
The KLUC Toy Drive is on record as the World’s Largest Single Location Toy Drive and benefits HELP of Southern Nevada. “Honorary Astronaut” Buchanan will remain aloft and on duty until Monday, Dec. 12, when he descends some 30 feet back through the atmosphere to Planet Earth.
