TV Face For Radio Soon A Reality
• Entercom Classic Hits 104.3 WOMC/Detroit is days away from the launch of a new morning show that features a very familiar face — former longtime Detroit TV news anchor Stephen Clark has been hired as host of 104.3 WOMC Mornings with Stephen Clark and…, which launches Monday, April 2. A second co-host will be revealed on Thursday, April 5 and we imagine that will serve to fill in the rest of the show’s currently incomplete name.
Clark recently retired from WXYZ-TV after 16 years as anchor of the 6 and 11pm newscasts. The move to WOMC marks a radio return for Clark, who began his career as a newspaper photographer, and also worked as a radio reporter and DJ before making the transition to the TV anchor chair. Clark is also a singer-songwriter who performs around the Detroit area.
“Stephen is an integral part of the fabric of Detroit and we are thrilled to have him open this new chapter in the station’s rich heritage,” said Debbie Kenyon, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom Detroit. “Stephen’s connection with our local community, his personality and love of music make him a great fit to take the helm of the new WOMC morning show.”
An elated Clark said, “I’m thrilled to be returning to my radio roots where I began my broadcast career, and only the legendary WOMC could have brought me out of retirement. I have a unique relationship with the Detroit community from my time on television and I’m looking forward to deepening that connection via daily conversations and direct interactions with listeners every morning on 104.3 WOMC.”
