Munsen & Freda Enhance WMG
• Warner Music Group announced a new senior management structure for the company’s technology and data areas — please welcome Ralph Munsen as the newly named Chief Information Officer (CIO), while WBR vet Vinnie Freda will assume the newly created position of Chief Data Officer (CDO). Munson (left) will lead the company’s global technology strategy, infrastructure, and operations, while Freda (right) will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive vision and strategy for data management throughout the company, championing the use of data to provide useful insight.
Munsen most recently served as Global Managing Partner of Delivery for GroupM. He brings with him 20 years of media and entertainment experience, including senior technology positions at Accenture, EMI Music, Clear Channel/ iHeartMedia and a five-year stint as CIO with Hachette Book Group. Freda most recently served as President & COO of INgrooves Music Group. He later spent 23 years with MCA Records and Universal Music Group, where he rose to EVP of Digital Logistics and Business Services. This appointment move marks a return to WMG, where he got his start 30 years ago.
Both gentlemen report to CEO Steve Cooper, who commented, “Ralph and Vinnie both bring decades of deep experience and a forward-thinking, agile approach, which makes them ideally suited to WMG. Together, they will spearhead our efforts to deploy innovative technological tools while ensuring that data, accompanied by our instincts and expertise, is at the heart of our decision-making and best-in-class services for artists and songwriters.”
