Romeo Named Republic VP/Top 40
• Republic Records has elevated Lucas Romeo to Vice President, Top 40 Promotion. The news was just announced by Republic Executive Vice President, Promotion Gary Spangler, who commented, “Lucas has not only built some of the strongest relationships at the format, but he also has a natural instinct to chart unique paths for each individual project to succeed. We look forward to Lucas leading our efforts at Top 40, and I’m proud to announce this well-deserved promotion.”
Romeo joined Republic four years ago as Mid-Atlantic Regional, transitioning from Epic Records. He was promoted to National Director of Top 40 in August of 2016 and has been instrumental in executing campaigns for The Weeknd, Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Ariana Grande and Hailee Steinfeld, among others within the Republic family and its strategic partners.
Commenting on his promotion, Romeo remarked, “It’s an honor to be charged with the task of taking the best Top 40 team in the business to an even higher standard. I’d like to thank Monte, Avery, Gary and the rest of the team at Republic for giving me the opportunity. In my opinion, Gary has cultivated one of the most progressive cultures in promotion and I plan to continue the mindset he has instilled.”
Romeo will be based out of the company’s global headquarters in New York and joins Brett Dumler to lead the #1 Top 40 department in the industry. Mediabase market share reports that in 2017, Republic held a 23% share — meaning one in four songs on Top 40 radio crossed Romeo’s desk.
