Brooks To Run Sunshine Wilmington

• Sunrise Broadcasting in Wilmington, NC, a subsidiary of Capitol Broadcasting, has named Valerie Brooks as GM of the five-station group — Top 40 WAZO (Z107.5), AC WILT (Sunny 103.7), Alternative WRMR (Modern Rock 98.7), Rhythmic Oldies WKXB (Jammin’ 99.9) and ESPN affiliate WMFD-AM. She will also oversee sales for Capitol Broadcasting’s WILM-TV/Wilmington. Brooks succeeds Brian Schimmel, who exits after eight years.

Ms. Brooks segues from Radio One, where she spent the past three years as Sr. Integrated Marketing Specialist and Political Strategist. She previously spent 14 years with CBS Radio as an SVP/Market Manager, General Sales Manager and Director of Sales. Earlier in her career, Brooks was an Account Exec with WNCI/Columbus, OH under Nationwide Communications.

Commenting on her new challenge, Brooks told RAMP, “These are amazing properties with a highly talented and motivated staff. I’m excited to exploit our tradition of super-serving the audience and business community in the Cape Fear Region.”
