Take Me To The River

• Dick Broadcasting got busy in the Greenville-New Bern-Jacksonville, NC market last Friday afternoon, flipping WQSL/WQZL (New Country 92-3 & 101-1 The Wolf) to Adult Hits as 92.3 & 101.1 FM The River. According to the press release, The River will play a bunch of hits from the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, etc., from a large, tested library of over 1,100 titles from such artists as Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Prince, Bon Jovi, Green Day, the Goo Goo Dolls, Meatloaf and Wild Cherry.

Explaining the reasoning behind this decision, Jason Goodman, VP of Programming for Dick Broadcasting remarked, “After extensive research in the Greenville-New Bern market, we discovered the market was being underserved for a wider variety of hits that centers in the ’80s while surrounded with the ’70s and ’90s.” Market Manager Tony Denton said, “We are so excited about this radio station and its unique format. What a wonderful thing for our listeners and clients throughout eastern NC!” Operations Manager Chris Mann added, “I’m thrilled to be part of this endeavor to bring an exciting blend of music to serve the listeners of eastern North Carolina.”

• As we recently reported, the Premiere-syndicated Bobby Bones Show, which had been carried on WQSL/WQZL, is moving over to Country sister 95.1 WRNS. He succeeds the previous morning duo of Jim Mantel and PD Crystal Legends — Mantel retired and Ms. Legends is moving to middays.
