Wolf Succumbs Due To Altitude
• Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) announced it will be dropping the Country format on KWOF (92.5 The Wolf)/Denver on September 17 and flipping the station to Sports-Talk as Altitude 92.5, the new FM compliment to Sports sister KKSE-AM (Altitude AM 950).
According to the official release, KWOF will become the new radio home of the Colorado Avalanche and the Denver Nuggets, and pick up the local Altitude Sports Radio programming currently heard on KKSE-AM — which will, in turn, become a Fox Sports Radio affiliate featuring Colin Cowherd, Dan Patrick, and JT The Brick with Tomm Looney. At the same time, local hosts Vic Lombardi, Scott Hastings, Julie Browman, Marc Moser, Nate Kreckman and Ryan Harris will migrate from KKSE-AM over to KWOF.
In making the announcement, Brenda Egger, SVP/GM of KSE Radio said, “Our new FM and AM approach to Denver sports radio will serve fans of local teams as well as sports fans of teams throughout the country. Denver sports fans, no matter their history and alliances, will be well-served by our two-station approach that includes the best local and national play-by-play and Sports/Talk.” Dave Tepper, PD of Altitude Sports Radio, commented, “Whether your favorite sports team is local or based outside Colorado, Altitude 92.5 FM and Altitude AM 950 have you covered. Altitude Sports Radio’s new two-platform delivery is the perfect blend of local and national sports radio.”
• Concurrent with the impending format flip, KWOF PD/morning personality Bo Jaxon is now a free agent. Jaxon (left, snappy bow tie sold separately) has been in the Mile High City since November 2012, where he spent the first five years as PD/afternoon talent on KIMN (Mix 100.3). He added Wolf PD duties in January 2017.
Jaxon previously spent seven years as PD of Cumulus Hot AC KBBY (B95.1) & Sports KVEN-AM/Oxnard-Ventura, CA, and earlier in his career, that, Jaxon spent 14 years with KLUC/Las Vegas and was recently inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.
