Tidwell Lands At Cumulus Detroit
• Lance Tidwell has touched down in Detroit as the newly named Director of FM Programming for Cumulus Detroit — Country WDRQ (NASH FM 93.1) and Hot AC WDVD. Tidwell succeeds Robbie Bridges, who recently announced his intention to back to the Providence area after a successful five-year run in Detroit.
Tidwell is a 30-year programming pro who was most recently Operations Manager for Townsquare Media’s four-station cluster in Fort Collins, CO. The move marks a return to the Cumulus fold for Tidwell, who previously served as Operations Manager for the company’s seven-station Kansas City group and PD of News-Talk KCMO and the Chiefs Radio Network. Tidwell also served as SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia in Tucson and San Antonio, and his prior Country programming stops include WWYZ/Hartford, KKWF (The Wolf)/Seattle, KQFC/Boise, ID and WGKX/Memphis, TN. Earlier in his career he worked at KTOM/Monterey-Salinas, CA and WCOS/Columbia, SC.
While introducing Tidwell to the staff, Greg Smith, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Detroit, said, “Lance is a tremendous addition to our management team at Cumulus Detroit. Lance is a highly regarded programmer, on-air talent, and leader. I’m looking forward to working with him to grow both ratings and revenue for 96.3 WDVD and NASH FM 93.1.” Tidwell remarked, “I’m very excited to work with my mentor and friend Mike Wheeler again! I want to thank Mike, Greg Smith and Mike McVay for this opportunity in Detroit.”
