Jason Kidd Drives DC To Work
• UPDATED: Earlier this month we told you Jason Kidd had exited the afternoon show on Cumulus Hot AC WRQX (Mix 107.3)/Washington after a three-year run. This morning, Kidd’s new gig was publically confirmed as he made his debut in mornings across the street on Entercom Classic Hits WIAD (94.7 The Drive), the perfect drivetime bookend to fellow DC/Baltimore radio pro Albie Dee, who pilots The Drive weekdays from 3-7pm.
“Jason’s boundless energy and local connection to the D.C. market made him a strong candidate early in the search process,” said Phil Zachary, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom Washington, DC. “Once we had the opportunity to meet and discuss his innovative ideas, there was no doubt that Jason was ideally suited to host mornings on The Drive.”
Kidd’s extensive radio resume includes a lengthy programming run with CBS Radio as PD of WPGC/Washington, WWMX (Mix 106.5) & WQSR (Jack FM)/Baltimore and KQBT/Austin. Earlier in his career Kidd spent five years with Clear Channel as PD of WKST/Pittsburgh and WWHT/Syracuse. He has also plugged in at WPLJ/New York and spent six and a half years at SiriusXM on ’80s on 8, Hitlist and POP2K. For the past several years he has also been building his own company, New Generation Radio.
Kidd exclaimed, “I couldn’t be more excited to reunite with [Entercom DC VP of Programming] Steve Davisand the entire team at Entercom Washington D.C. Special thanks to Phil Zachary, [CRO/Regional President] Bob Philipsand [Entercom President of Programming] Pat Paxtonthis amazing opportunity to make the move across town and to be back home at Entercom Washington, DC.”
