Anyone Want To Buy Your MOM?
• Now that we have your attention… An amazing ownership opportunity now awaits an enthusiastic broadcaster in the scenic resort community of Ludington, MI, as industry veteran Pat Lopeman, a.k.a. Pat Martin, announced he is selling his radio station, 102.7 WMOM-FM (“Always Listen To Your Mom”), which was named Station of the Year in 2017 by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
Lopeman, who helped launch the radio careers of such notables as Chris Shebel, Jeff Rowe, Brad Fuhr and many others, was forced to take his station off the air on April 1 — and that’s no fooling. Pat was recently involved in a serious accident with a semi-truck in his home state of Wisconsin. The short version: the truck won, and Pat is now recovering.
A statement posted to Facebook read, in part, “Mr. Patrick Lopeman, WMOM owner has asked me to share a few words about WMOM discontinuing broadcast operations on 102.7 FM. He was involved in a serious auto accident last month, which made him re-evaluate his activities in managing the business. With his 70th birthday approaching, he realized he was long past retirement age and couldn’t keep up with the schedule required to operate the radio station.”
Anyone looking for a hot FM property along the shores of Lake Michigan (about an hour north of Muskegon and two hours south of Traverse City) that boasts a picture-window studio facing right onto the main street through town, should reach out to Pat, and after wishing him a speedy recovery, have a serious conversation with him about finding a new home for his “Mom.” Lopeman/Martin can be contacted at patrick@wmom.fm.
