Matthews Named Alpha Rhythm Captain

• Alpha Media is proud to announce that Bo Matthews, Ohio Operations Manager for Dayton, Canton/Akron has been upped to corporate Rhythm Format Captain. Matthews will retain his existing local duties in addition to his newly expanded role. Each Alpha Media Format Captain is responsible for assisting in the growth of all associated stations in their particular music format. This includes frequent communication with the local Program/Content Directors, as well as monitoring the stations’ performance.

In making the announcement, Alpha Media EVP of Content, Phil Becker commented, “Since joining Alpha Media Bo has been delivering ratings, building teams, and making his brands better. I’m certain he will do the same in this new role and I’m thankful to have him on the team.”

Matthews joined Alpha Media in Feb. 2018, following a stint as SVP of Programming for the iHeartMedia Markets Group in Cincinnati and Dayton. He started his radio career in Youngstown, OH with Jacor Communications and later ascended through the programming ranks with Clear Channel and iHeartMedia with stops in Ft. Myers, Jacksonville and a decade in Cleveland, where he programmed WMMS and WAKS until January 2014, when he accepted the promotion and transfer to Cincinnati.

Commenting on his new Rhythmic responsibilities, Matthews said, “The first station I ever programmed was a Rhythm station (WBTT/Fort Myers, FL), which was some of the most fun I’ve ever had in my programming career. I’m super excited to be working with our rhythm stations and creating some magic with the many talented people we have.
