Simple Decision, Complex Solution
• Riviera Broadcasting Rhythmic KKFR (Power 98.3 & 96.1)/Phoenix makes it official and awards permanent PD stripes to APD/MD Ben “DJ Complex.” He has been serving as Interim PD since former longtime Mikey Fuentes left last month to focus full-time on the syndication of KKFR-based Tino Cochino Radio.
In making the announcement, Michael Cutchall, CEO of Riviera Broadcasting said, “Complex has been a large part of Power’s success and growth over the years. His work ethic and passion for the brand and market are second to none. We’re excited to see the next evolution of the station.”
Complex enjoys a lengthy history with KKFR — after a stint as a mixer there early in his career, he went on to serve as MD/Mix Show Coordinator at KWIE/Riverside, and in 2008 was named APD/MD at Impact Radio Group Rhythmic KWYD (Wild 101)/Boise, ID. In February 2010, Complex was upped to PD of Wild 101 — ironically, replacing Mikey Fuentes. He rejoined KKFR in August 2012.
Complex remarked, “Phoenix has always been beyond special to me and it’s an honor to be at the heritage Hip-Hop station. There are so many talented individuals who have passion for the station, the music and the culture, and I am humbled to be asked to lead them. It’s truly a privilege to be taking over the reins and I’m looking forward to helping the station grow.”
