Stephens Media Group Acquires Mapleton
• In yet another blockbuster July 4th week media transaction, as Oklahoma-based Stephens Media Group announced it is acquiring Mapleton Communications.
The paperwork has been signed and an application is being filed with the FCC for the transfer of 37 radio stations from Mapleton Communications, LLC to Stephens Media Group. The Seller, Mapleton Communications, LLC, is a California-based company headed by Jim Shea. Mapleton’s stations are located in Monterey, Merced, Chico and Redding, CA; Monroe and Alexandria, LA; Medford, OR and Spokane, WA. Mapleton also owns KSFN-AM/San Francisco and stations in Chico, CA, which are transferring to Bustos Media.
The Buyer, Stephens Media Group, is an Oklahoma-based company headed by David Stephens. Stephens Media Group owns six radio stations in Tulsa and four more in Ardmore, Oklahoma; as well as stations in Watertown, Ogdensburg, Massena, and Rochester, New York; Yakima and the Tri-Cities, Washington. In a statement, Stephens Media Group owner, David Stephens said, “These seven markets fit nicely within our company. This acquisition doubles our size, and I couldn’t be more pleased.”
Stephens Media Group will be acquiring the following stations from Mapleton Communications, LLC — Medford, OR: KCMX-AM, KTMT-AM, KAKT-FM, KCMX-FM, KTMT-FM & KBOY-FM. Merced, CA: KYOS-AM, KBRE-AM, KABX-FM, KHTN-FM, KLOQ-FM & KUBB-FM. Monterey, CA: KCDU-FM, KHIP-FM, KKHK-FM, KPIG-FM & KWAV-FM. Redding, CA: KNRO-AM, KQMS-AM, KWLZ-FM, KRDG-FM, KRRX-FM, KSHA-FM & KALF-FM. Spokane, WA: KGA-AM, KJRB-FM, KZBD-AM, KEYF-FM, KDRK-FM & KBBD-FM. Alexandria, LA: KBKK-FM, KEZP-FM & KLAA-FM. Monroe, LA: KMYY-FM, KNNW-FM, KXRR-FM & KZRZ-FM.
Both parties have agreed to an immediate LMA with Stephens Media Group for all the properties. Kalil & Co., Inc. is the exclusive broker for this transaction.
