Taylor Replaces Taylor At WCBS-FM/NY
• Entercom just announced that New York radio veteran Race Taylor is joining Classic Hits WCBS-FM/New York as its new midday personality, effective July 22. He replaces Dan Taylor, who exits.
Taylor famously spent nearly two decades in afternoon drive across the street on the late, legendary WPLJ, and presided over the station’s bittersweet sign-off on May 31, ahead of its transfer of ownership from Cumulus to EMF. Taylor is the currently the billboard voice for ABC-TV’s primetime, daytime and late-night programming. Earlier in his career Taylor worked at KDMX (Mix 102.9)/Dallas and WKRQ (Q102)/Cincinnati.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Race to WCBS-FM and to reunite him with some of our most legendary on-air personalities,” said Susan Larkin, Regional President and Market Manager of Entercom New York. “We are thrilled to offer former WPLJ fans a new place to call home at our station and to offer Race’s loyal listeners more of the absolute best on-air listening experience for which we are known.”
Taylor exclaimed, “Pinch me! I am beyond ecstatic for the support I’ve received from Jim Ryan [SVP of Programming, Entercom New York] and Susan Larkin. To say I’m a lucky guy to walk into one of the greatest radio stations ever is an understatement. There are some two million PLJ fans looking for a station to call home and I’d love for them to join me at WCBS-FM. I’m ready to rock. Scott Shannon, I’ve missed you brother.”
