Hurricane Dave On The Loose

• RAMP has confirmed that “Hurricane Dave” Smith has exited his position as VP of Programming & Operations for Radio One Atlanta after nearly a decade with the cluster. He was also overseeing the company’s brands in Charlotte, Richmond, Raleigh and Reach Media Atlanta.

Smith previously spent seven years as Operations Manager of Radio One Atlanta until his elevation to VP in December 2016. Earlier career stops include a stint as Executive Producer for ABC Radio Networks-syndicated Doug Banks Morning Show and Operations Manager for Cumulus Tallahassee.

“This is part of a repositioning that is happening in my life,” Smith tells RAMP, adding, “I trust GOD and the process so I’m not worried.” Armed with that positive attitude, Hurricane Dave is now seeking his next executive programming opportunity in radio or a streaming company.
