Quad Cities Rock Four Times Harder
• Townsquare Media used the occasion of Labor Day weekend to launch a new Active Rock station for the Quad Cities — former ESPN Radio affiliate KJOC-FM has flipped to I-Rock 93.5, “Hard Rock for the Quad Cities.” And yes, you can expect new “Less Jock-y, More Rock-y” call letters soon.
I-Rock 93.5 is current rolling commercial-free and blasting hard rock from Godsmack, Slipknot, Tool, Korn, Disturbed, Metallica, Five Finger DeathPunch, ’90s classics from Nirvana, Alice In Chains, etc., and new rock from bands like Volbeat and Ghost. (Cue ballsy announcer): “All the hard rock the Quad Cities has been missing and deserves will all be in one place now!”
The new I-Rock 93.5 will be programmed by Ryan McCredden, OM of Townsquare Media Quad Cities, who commented, “The Midwest knows how to rock! I’m thrilled that we are going to be able to bring this new hard rock station to the Quad Cities. Finally, rockers will be able to listen to all their favorite bands and songs from a local station. We’re going to energize the rock fans of the Quad Cities with music they will only be able to get on I-Rock 93.5, irock935.com and via the I-Rock 93.5 app.”
Fear not, sports fans — your favorite ESPN programming has relocated over to former Classic County KBOB-AM, which is now rebranded as ESPN Quad Cities 1170AM, featuring ESPN’s national programming along with a local sports show, Don’t Hassle Us We’re Local from noon-2pm. ESPN 1170 AM will also carry the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Iowa State football and basketball.
