Marty Whitney Comes Home To 91X

• There is jubilation in the hallways of Local Media San Diego Alternative XTRA (91X)/San Diego with the news that prodigal son Marty Whitney is returning, this time to co-host the morning show with Danielle Stuht, weekdays from 5-10am PT, starting Monday.

Whitney originally worked at 91X stint in the early 2000’s as Music Director and night jock. Since then, he’s gone on to do middays at KYSR (ALT 98.7)/Los Angeles, nights at KIOZ/San Diego and mornings at KRZQ/Reno. Whitney was most recently a Special Programming Producer for Apple Music’s Beats 1.

“The kook has come home to roost!” Whitney exclaimed. “This legendary little station in TJ that hits all of SoCal is once again my home, and I’m overwhelmed to join the great family at Local Media SD. Also, please don’t describe my position as ‘Wake-ups,’ as it’s dated. Call me the ‘Morning Dude.’ Or, ‘His Morning Dudeness,’ or uh, ‘Morning Duder,’ or ‘El Morning Duderino’ if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.”

Co-Host Danielle Stuht added, “I’m super stoked to have Marty as my partner in the morning. I’ve been a fan of his for years and he brings a true, authentic vibe that is a perfect fit for mornings on 91X.” An equally excited 91X PD Garett Michaels remarked, “Marty is ideal for mornings on 91X.
