Trick Daddy Arrested In Miami
• Just over a week into his tenure as the new morning co-host (with Trina) on Cox Media Group Urban WEDR (99 JAMZ)/Miami, local hip hop icon Trick Daddy was arrested early Saturday morning on DUI and cocaine possession charges.
According to the Miami Herald, a Miami-Dade officer responded to a report of a driver hitting signs and running red lights in a Range Rover around 3:20am Saturday. When the officer approached the vehicle, he saw that the driver “appeared to be asleep behind the wheel.” Once he was awakened by a knock on the window, the man, identified by his driver’s license as Maurice Samuel Young — Trick Daddy’s birth name — told the officer he had had about five drinks hours earlier at a club in Miami Gardens and was dropping someone off and heading home.
The arrest report said the 45-year-old Young exhibited slurred speech, bloodshot, watery and glassy eyes and that the officer smelled alcohol on his breath. He agreed to a field sobriety test, which he could not successfully complete, police said. Young was transported to a local precinct, and while he was putting his possessions in a plastic bag, police found cocaine inside a dollar bill. Police say he was also wanted on a warrant for driving under the influence. Young’s bond was set at $5,000 on the cocaine possession charge and $1,000 on the DUI charge — both of which he paid, according to court records. He was released on Saturday.
As a matter of due diligence, RAMP reached out to Tim Clarke, CMG’s VP of Content & Audience, who said, “We have recently been made aware of an incident involving Trick Daddy, one of our on-air talents. As a matter of policy, we do not comment on personal matters of our employees. We will share more details if and when they are available.”
