KLOS Breaks $1 Mil St. Jude Barrier

Meruelo Media, Classic Rock 95.5 KLOS/Los Angeles and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® announced that its two-day St. Jude Rocks Radiothon, presented by Stella Rosa Wines, broke its own annual fundraising record, raising $1,028,526 in just 26 hours!

This year, KLOS was able to supersize its publicity efforts by pulling together the combined power of its Meruelo Media sister stations — KPWR (Power 106), 93.5 KDAY, KLLI (Cali 93.9) and KWHY-TV 22. Two five-figure donations came from the Meruelo Group’s Arizona Coyotes of the NHL and the Tommy’s Angels foundation, a local charity created in memory of Tommy Day Jr., who lost his life at the Route 91 concert in Las Vegas.

Angela Northrup of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, expressed gratitude for the generous work of KLOS and the entire Meruelo Media family, as she remarked, “St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital depends on community support demonstrated by KLOS and the entire Meruelo Media family to continue supporting its mission: Finding cures. Saving children.® Northrup continued, “St. Jude won’t stop working until no child dies from cancer, so its listeners should take great pride in knowing they are helping to ensure St. Jude has the freedom to focus on what matters most — saving kids regardless of their financial situation.”

KLOS PD Keith Cunningham said, “We crushed fundraising records for rock formats in America for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Along with all the KLOS talent, led by FrostyHeidi & Frank; Marci Wiser; Gary Moore and Greg Beharrell; our Meruelo Media sister stations and their talent joined us, so we could all lock-arms and bring the entire Southern California community together to support kids with childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It was great having Power 106’s Nick Cannon, Cali 93.9’s Angelica Vale, and KDAY’s Cece and Romeo help us raise more than $1 million.” Thanks to the generosity of all these listeners, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child.
