Radio Takes Care Of The Caretakers

• It’s truly gratifying to see radio — and equally dedicated listeners — continue to passionately support our frontline first responders and healthcare professionals during this pandemic. Another shining example comes to us from Geena The Latina and Frankie V, the talented morning duo on iHeartMedia Top 40 KHTS (Channel 933)/San Diego, who, along with their Producer Chris and Phone Screener Jess recently challenged San Diego to help raise money to purchase much-needed masks and other supplies for healthcare workers.

As Frankie explains to RAMP, “What started out as an idea turned into over $10,000 raised! That money went towards purchasing KN95 masks, sanitizer, and other supplies for those who needed it most.” Geena and Frankie (pictured here partially obscured by the giant cardboard check) spent the afternoon of National Nurses Day, Wednesday, May 6, personally hand-delivering these supplies to hospitals and health centers throughout San Diego County.

Afterward, Geena said, “It’s so amazing to see San Diego come together in support of our health care workers. I feel so appreciative to live in this wonderful city. Thank you San Diego and thank you to all our health care workers!” Frankie added, “I truly love our city! San Diego always comes through when we put them up to the challenge! It was amazing to work as a community to deliver for our hard working health care workers when they need us the most!”

This campaign was sponsored by BattaFulkerson Law Group, Jensen Meat, Masks for Nurses, Dirty Birds Wings, and others. Check out the video and photos posted at channel933.iheart.com.
