A Very Im-Purtan-t Occasion

• We want to take this opportunity to send our most sincere best wishes to the legendary Dick Purtan! One of radio’s most beloved air personalities, who entertained the citizens of Detroit for 45 years, married Donna Hammar this past weekend. With all six of Dick’s daughters, and their families, and Donna’s daughter and her family present, the happy couple tied the knot with a small, joyous outdoor ceremony at Dick’s suburban home.

Three of Dick’s daughters have ties to radio, and JoAnne Purtan is currently co-host of JJ & JoAnne Mornings with Jim “JJ” Johnson on Entercom Classic Hits 104.3 WOMC/Detroit.

Dick lost his wife Gail in 2018 following many years of failing health. He’d be the first to tell you that his new relationship with Donna at this stage of his life is both unexpected and a true blessing.
