Driver Charged In Don Hall’s Death
• Ray Anthony Watkins, the man accused of running a red light and killing Don Hall (pictured), the longtime morning co-host on Entercom Classic Hits KEYN/Wichita, KS on April 29, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office. “The charging decision was based on the evidence presented by investigators at the time of the charging appointment,” District Attorney Marc Bennett said in an email to the Wichita Eagle.
Watkins, 43, had his first appearance last Friday afternoon, where Sedgwick County District Judge Seth Rundle set his bond at $50,000.
As we previously reported, Wichita Police arrived on the scene of the accident around 4:20am on April 29 and found Hall, 70, pinned inside his vehicle. He was extracted in critical condition and died on the scene. Watkinswas arrested and originally booked on suspicion of second-degree murder. Police say they found alcohol and drugs in Watkins’ vehicle and on his person, which they believe were factors in the crash. Watkins suffered only minor injuries. Police say he had been previously arrested and convicted of aggravated robbery.
Bennett told the Eagle that the felony charge carries a sentence of between 3 to 14 years.
