Cannon’s Daytime TV Show Postponed

• Nick Cannon‘s daytime talk show, which has been pre-cleared in 90% of the country and was scheduled to premiere this fall, has now been pushed back a year to late 2021 — more fallout from Cannon’s ill-advised anti-Semitic comments made on his podcast. The resulting career damage has been severe — ViacomCBS, which houses Cannon’s Wild ‘N Out brand, severed its 20-year relationship with Cannon almost immediately, while Skyview Networks, which began syndicating Nick Cannon Radio in January, has hit the pause button on Cannon, putting the relationship in a “time out” and will use substitute hosts TFN.

On a brighter note: Cannon’s morning show on Meruelo Media’s KPWR (Power 106)/Los Angeles seems to be intact, and after Cannon issued an apology, Fox announced Cannon would remain in place as host and Executive Producer of The Masked Singer.

In a statement obtained by Variety, Lionsgate-owned Debmar-Mercury, the producers of Cannon’s now delayed talk show said, “The ‘Nick Cannon’ talk show will not debut this year. After conversations with Nick, we do believe that his public comments don’t reflect his true feelings and his apology is heartfelt and sincere. We want to continue the healing process as he meets with leaders of the Jewish community and engages in a dialogue with our distribution partners to hear their views.  We are standing by Nick in our hope that by fall 2021 he will be able to use his extraordinary talent and platform to entertain, enlighten and unite his audience on the ‘Nick Cannon’ talk show. Lionsgate and Debmar-Mercury condemn anti-Semitism, racism and hate speech. It runs counter to everything we stand for.”
