Lexington Listeners Prefers DeadAir
• LM Communications’ Classic Rock WBVX (Classic Rock 92.1)/Lexington, KY has named market veteran “DeadAir Dennis” Dillon as PD and afternoon drive personality.
“Classic Rock 92.1 is now home to one of Lexington’s very own legends of rock,” said LM Communications’ President/Owner Lynn Martin. “We are pleased to welcome Dennis Dillon, who has a long history of presenting the very best Classic Rock music and now can present it to the best Classic Rock audience in Lexington. By introducing him to our locally-owned and operated radio group, we once again show that being a local voice rather than just a cog in a national wheel lets us provide something truly unique to the Classic Rock audience in Lexington.”
Dillon brings more than 34 years of experience to Classic Rock 92.1 and has worked three tours of duty in Lexington, including a stint as PD of Clear Channel/iHeartMedia Rock rival WKQQ in the mid-2000s. He was also named “DJ of the Year” in the 2016 and 2020 Lexington Music Awards. Dillon got his start in 1986 at a 1,000-watt station in the non-bustling metropolis of Ironton, OH. His first full-time gig was in Danville, KY, and he went on to work in Chattanooga, TN, Cincinnati, and Louisville, KY.
Commenting on his new gig, Dillon said, “In a time when big corporations are moving away from local DJs in the community, I’m ecstatic to have found a home in the city I love with a locally-owned and operated company. I’ve always loved this genre and I’m already discovering that the Classic Rock 92.1 fans share that same passion.”
