Entercom, Scott Shannon Renew Vows
• Entercom today announced a new contract extension with the legendary Scott Shannon, who will continue to anchor Scott Shannon in the Morning with Patty Steele on Classic Hits WCBS-FM/New York, weekdays from 6-10am ET, as well as his nationally syndicated weekend countdown show, America’s Greatest Hits.
“When New Yorkers think of morning radio, they hear Scott Shannon in their minds,” said Chris Oliviero, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom New York. “Generations of listeners have woken up with Scott as the first voice they hear each day. As relevant and compelling as ever, it is fitting that he holds court on WCBS-FM 101.1, right in the middle of that radio dial that he has influenced like no other talent in history.” Commenting on his extension, Shannon remarked, “I’m very excited to continue waking up New Yorkers alongside Patty [Steele] and the gang. I’m still having fun after all these years and I look forward to many more years at New York’s only greatest hits station.”
According to Entercom, Shannon’s show is ranked No. 1 in cume 6+ M-F, 6-10am in the just-released Nielsen August 2020 ratings. He also has the largest AQH share among music station morning shows — No. 1 with listeners 6+. WCBS-FM is consistently a top three station in New York and is currently the No. 1 station 12+, Mon-Sun, 6am-12pm, according to Nielsen.
Prior to joining WCBS-FM 101.1 in 2014, Shannon worked at the late WPLJ/New York since 1991. He also launched KQLZ (Pirate Radio)/Los Angeles and WHTZ (Z100)/New York, where he famously propelled the fledgling station from “worst to first” in just 72 days, while helping create and define the “Morning Zoo” format for Top 40 stations. Other stops include WMPS/Memphis, WMAK/Nashville, WQXI/Atlanta, now sister station WPGC/Washington and WRBQ (Q105)/Tampa. Shannon was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2006. Shannon is represented by Workhouse Media’s John McConnell.
