WHBQ/Memphis Flips To Classic Hits

• It’s the end of an era for Flinn Broadcasting’s venerable WHBQ (Q107.5)/Memphis — and the beginning of a new one. After nearly two decades as Top 40 station, and sporting those legendary calls that harkened back to those amazing early days when Rick Dees and Wink Martindale cracked the mic at WHBQ-AM, WHBQ-FM has flipped to Classic Hits as, simply, “107.5 WHBQ, All The Classic Hits.”

OM Chris Taylor said, “We spent the last month researching and asking people what they wanted in a radio station, and the answer was they wanted a radio station that played music that made them feel good — all the hits from the ’80s… along with some fun stuff from the ’70s and early ’90s. When you think of great radio stations over the years that had amazing talent, one of those stations you think of is WHBQ in Memphis! We are excited to bring it back to the mid south.”

Taylor tells RAMP that the station will run jockless for the coming weeks to let the new format breathe.
