KILO & KRXP Retool, Promote Young Jocks
• Lots of energy pulsing through the hallways of Bahakel Active Rock 94.3 KILO-FM and Alternative KRXP (RXP @ 103.9)/Colorado Springs as the company retools some shifts, effective Monday, Feb. 22 while at the same time promoting two young broadcasters into their first full-time on-air positions!
The action begins at the top of the pyramid as Shawn Rock, longtime KILO MD/midday talent and PD of KRXP for the past two years, unplugs from KILO and will now focus fully on RXP, doing a live midday show. At the same time, KILO afternoon drive talent Sid Black, a 17-year station vet, is upped to APD/MD and relinquishes his KILO Promotions Director duties while remaining in afternoons.
The KILO midday slot will be filled by Emily Nixx, who is awarded her first full-time radio spot after working weekends and nights on RXP for the past two years. She will also take over KILO promotions duties under the direction of News Director Summer Justice, who adds Promotion Coordinator stripes for KILO & KRXP. And there more good news: KILO nights will once again go live, as Nick Miller is elevated from weekends, also snagging his first full-time radio job.
But wait! There’s more! KRXP afternoon talent/Promotions Director Cate Carrier adds MD stripes, and finally, but certainly not least, KILO & KRXP Production Director Andy Crowl takes over the RXP night show.
Surveying all of these changes, GM Jason Janc said, “We’re thrilled to be able to constantly expand our Live and Local legacy with KILO and KRXP in Colorado Springs. To be able to promote our own while at the same time making an already talented on-air, programming and promotions lineup even stronger speaks volumes. We couldn’t be more excited about our opportunities moving forward.”
