WMSC Names ‘Pro-In-Residence’
• Glenn Schuck, longtime morning drive anchor/reporter at Entercom’s venerable 1010 WINS/New York has been named as the first-ever “Professional-in-Residence” for Montclair State University’s WMSC-FM, which was recently named “Best College Radio Station” in the nation at the 81st Annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems Awards.
In this new position, Schuck (left) will work exclusively with the station’s news department alongside GM Anabella Poland, mentoring student reporters and elevating their hands-on experience in news coverage. The one-year agreement will allow students to connect with Schuck on a daily basis, and receive feedback on their newscasts and news reports.
“WMSC is leading the way in preparing the broadcasters of the future for big-time accomplishments,” says Schuck. “To be part of this award-winning college radio experience is a thrill, and I cannot wait to get started.” Poland remarked, “I’ve been listening to Glenn since I moved to New York City more than 20 years ago. He is a staple of news radio in the No. 1 market in America, and I’m thrilled that Glenn will be joining us at WMSC-FM as our first-ever professional-in-residence.”
A graduate of New Jersey’s Seton Hall University, Schuck began his career at student-run WSOU-FM as News Director and later, Station Manager. He spent the first decade of his professional career on the music side, working at the Jersey Shore’s WJRZ/Monmouth-Ocean and WPST/Trenton, the former WAAF/Boston and KROQ/Los Angeles. In 1995, Schuck returned to news, anchoring shows on CNBC before joining 1010 WINS in 2000.
