Moving Day At Midwest Knoxville
• Duke Wright’s Midwest Communications, Inc. shared two major announcements regarding the company’s group in Knoxville, TN — starting with the elevation of Director of Sales Michael Brody to VP/Market Manager of the cluster, which includes Classic Rock 103.5 WIMZ, AC WJXB (B97.5), Adult Hits WFNZ (94.3 Jack FM)and Classic Country WDKW (95.7 Duke FM). As we previously reported, the group suffered a profound loss recently with the January passing of VP/Market Manager Randy Ross at the age of 56.
Brody began his radio career in 2001 as a local marketing consultant. He was promoted to Director of Sales in 2015. MWC President/CEO Duke Wright said, “Michael shares many of Randy’s business philosophies, culture and winning attitude, having worked with Randy for many years. Michael Brody’s knowledge, understanding and vision are exactly what our people and our company need in this leadership position.”
• In a related story, WIMZ is proud to announce the hire of major market veteran George McFly to do afternoon drive, beginning April 5. In yet another tragic loss, former afternoon drive fixture (and Tennessee Broadcast Association Hall of Famer) Billy Kidd died last November.
WIMZ Brand Manager Randy Chambers said, “We are enthusiastic to have a personality the caliber of George McFly become a member of our winning team at WIMZ. He’s creative, engaging, and our listeners will love him!”
McFly relocates to Knoxville from Albuquerque, where most recently did afternoons for American General Media Classic Hits KABG (Big 98.5). He’s also worked in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. McFly exclaimed, “I’ve finally found a permanent home in the greatest city in the USA!”
