Phoenix Bouncing To New ‘101.1 The Bounce’
• At 4pm Thursday, after more than a day of stunting with a very tight playlist of just songs by Dr. Dre and The Notorious B.I.G., Sierra H Broadcasting shut off Rhythmic KZCE (101.1 The Beat)/Phoenix and in its place launched 101.1 The Bounce, “The Valley’s Throwback Station,” under the watchful ears of Director of Content John Candelaria, who said, “There is a huge body of music that is not presently featured on any radio station in the Valley. We researched thousands of radio listeners in the market, and they expressed their ‘Love’ for fun, party music from the 1990s to the 2000s; something you just do not hear on local radio these days. We found our blue ocean!” Featured artists on the new 101.1 The Bounce include 2Pac, Usher, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, the aforementioned Notorious B.I.G, Rihanna, Nelly and Drake, etc.
Candy added, “We want to give listeners options. Our playlist will be diverse and reflect the multicultural city in which we reside. I want to point out the music and presentation was designed BY the listeners of Phoenix, FOR the listeners of Phoenix. We wanted every aspect of this new station to deliver to mood expectation. We are inviting everyone to sample the new station, commercial-free for a month.”
Station owner Ken Brentlinger commented, “We are excited with the new format; it will complement our heritage sister-station, [KAJM] Mega 104.3. We will have two unique, destination stations to offer our community.”
