Birmingham Wakes Up With Alabama
• iHeartMedia Top 40 WQEN (103.7 The Q)/Birmingham, AL announces the formal debut of the aptly named Alabama in the Morning, hosted by Birmingham natives Amber “Alabama” Cole and DJ New Era.
Ms. Cole is a major market veteran who was most recently a morning show cast member at Top 40 sister KBKS (HITS 106.1)/Seattle. Before that she did afternoons, and later, mornings at former iHeartMedia Country WEBG (Big 95.5)/Chicago. Her earlier stops include WNOH (Now 105)/Norfolk, WDZH/Detroit, WJIM/Lansing and WHTS/Grand Rapids, MI and KSXE & KFRR/Fresno. DJ New Era has become an elite DJ with residencies in Atlanta, New York, and Las Vegas, and whose talents can also be heard across the hall on 104.1 The Beat (WMJJ-HD2) and WZHT (Hot 105.7)/Montgomery, AL.
“Both Alabama and DJ New Era have worked incredibly hard to prepare for this opportunity,” said Dino Conard, Program Director of 103.7 The Q. “I couldn’t be more excited for these two and what we’re building in Birmingham!” Ray Quinn, Area President for iHeartMedia Alabama, added, “We couldn’t be happier to have Alabama and DJ New Era — two very talented personalities — at the helm of this new program. This team will bring Birmingham a unique, entertaining, and informative live and local morning show.”
Cole remarked, “I’m so grateful for this opportunity. Being the host of my own morning show has been a dream of mine for a long time, and I cannot wait to bring great morning radio to my hometown!”
