BIN Announces Expansion, Promotions
• iHeartMedia’s BIN: Black Information Network, the 24/7 comprehensive national audio news network dedicated launched in June 2020 to providing an objective, accurate and trusted source of continual news with a Black voice and perspective, announced plans to expand its local news coverage in all 32 of its affiliate markets beginning in January 2022.
This planned expansion will create new employment opportunities including multiple news anchor and reporter positions, as well as openings for a Managing Editor and a Podcast Managing Editor. Concurrent with this expansion, BIN also announced the promotions of three staff members: Tanita Myers (left), previously Director of News Operations, has been upped to Vice President of News Operations; Chris Thompson (center), previously Director of Network Operations, is now Vice President of Network Operations; and Lauren Crawford (right), previously Associate Editor, is now Sr. Director of Digital and Social Strategy.
Myers joined BIN in June 2020 after 15 years at Reach Media where she was Sr. Director of Radio Operations. She previously served as Director of Operations for The Tom Joyner Morning Show and Executive Producer of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show. She has also worked in radio in Phoenix, Dallas and Flint, MI. Thompson is the former VP of Radio Operations for Reach Media and The Tom Joyner Morning Show and Tom Joyner’s Right Back Atcha weekend show. Before that he was Executive Director of Network Operations for Buckley Radio. Crawford graduated from the University of Florida in 2015 with a Bachelors in Telecommunication, moved to New York City and has worked as a writer, reporter, editor, and digital host including overseeing the BIN’s digital site and social media accounts.
