Hollywood Media Pros To Create HOF
• Ron Alexenburg, President of Hollywood Media Professionals (HMP), announced that the organization is moving forward with plans for the Los Angeles Radio/Record Promotion Hall of Fame. Alexenburg said, “When we started thinking about this, we found it hard to believe that Southern California, as instrumental as it’s been to the record industry, does not have a Hall Of Fame that honors the amazing people who have worked in radio and record promotion. It’s about time!”
A 20-member committee, led by HMP Board Member (and RAMP Partner) Steve Resnik, is spearheading the list of candidates to be nominated that will include Southern California radio trailblazers, air personalities, programmers, and executives in all formats, as well as exceptional local and national leaders in record promotion. Deserving inductees will be honored at an in-person event to be scheduled in the near future when HMP will recognize their accomplishments.
Established in 1966 as Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters, the rebranded Hollywood Media Professionals is the premiere networking organization for men and women who have worked in any phase of radio, television, film, music, or new media for at least ten years. The group’s ongoing mission is to elevate and promote media and music through education and mentorship.
HMP regularly hosts luncheons to honor deserving individuals who have made significant contributions to the world of entertainment or media. Since the organization’s founding, over 2,000 entertainment industry luminaries have appeared as honorees and/or dais guests, including Lily Tomlin, Dick Cavett, Vin Scully, Tony Orlando, Rick Dees, Michael Feinstein, Larry King, Art Laboe, Joan Collins, Mike Love, Henry Winkler, Engelbert Humperdinck, Regis Philbin, Johnny Mathis and many others.
