Steve & DC Ride Again!
• After a 14-year hiatus, Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa, AL is proud to announce the reunion of Steve Shannon and DC Daniel — and the revival of the legendary Steve & DC Show on Country WFFN (95.3 the Bear), starting Oct. 4.
Shannon (left) and Daniel (right) originally met at the University of Alabama and hosted a radio show in Birmingham before they were hired at WKBQ/St. Louis in 1991, where the Steve & DC Show took off. At the height of the show’s popularity, the guys were syndicated in more than 40 markets. That partnership ended in 2007 when Shannon moved back to Alabama to be closer to family, and in 2016 he launched the Steve Shannon Morning Show on 95.3 the Bear. Since 2017, that show has been co-hosted by Meg Dowdy, who recently accepted a promotion to become one of Townsquare’s Regional Content Directors, overseeing the operations of 42 radio stations in seven Townsquare markets in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.
Dowdy’s promotion left Shannon’s show in need of a co-host, creating the perfect opportunity to reunite Shannon and Daniel. To make that happen, Daniel resigned his position as Brand Manager and content coordinator for Gulf South Communications in Dothan, AL.
“I’m so excited to get back in the booth with my old friend DC,” said Shannon (pictured here with DC in this awesome 1995 photo). “We have a special chemistry I think is rare in this industry, and there’s just this sense of unforced, genuine honesty when we’re on the air — as honest as you can be on the radio.” Daniel remarked, “I must be dreaming because this is too good to be true. I get to work for the hottest radio/digital company in America, Townsquare Media. First class in every way. This opportunity was too good to pass up! Steve & DC reunited with Townsquare Media? Perfect situation. Thanks to Kurt Johnson, Doug Montgomery, David DuBose, Meg Dowdy and Jacklyn Corley for making this happen. ROLL TIDE ROLL!”
The all-new Steve & DC Show debuts Monday, October 4 and will air weekdays from 5-10am, with a “Best-of” show airing Saturday mornings.
