Happy Hour Extended At Cumulus OKC
• Earlier this week we spilled the beans that Robert “Cisco” Mueller had made his triumphant return to Oklahoma City as the new PD of Cumulus Sports-Talk 98.1 WWLS (The Sports Animal), succeeding Chris Baker, who retired on Dec. 31.
Cumulus has now made that news official, adding that Bobby Yannarell, PD of Rhythmic KKWD (WiLD 104.9) will annex PD stripes for Hot AC sister KYIS (98.9 Kiss FM), succeeding Jeff Couch, who also retired in December.
Jay Davis, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus OKC said, “We have been incredibly blessed to have both Chris Baker and Jeff Couch leading our programming efforts for over a quarter of a century. We wish them the best of luck of luck in their hard-earned and well-deserved retirement years. With that said, we are equally excited to welcome back Robert ‘Cisco’ Mueller to head programming for WWLS and to elevate Bobby Yannarell to PD of KYIS. We are thrilled and believe we are poised for a similar long run of great leadership going forward. Congrats to all!”
Cisco (left) spent the past few years working for Alpha Media, most recently in San Antonio as Digital Sales Manager for ESPN affiliate KZDC-AM (San Antonio’s Sports Star). He also served as Market Manager for Alpha’s three-station group in his hometown of Amarillo, TX. Cisco is also more than familiar with the hallways, having earlier spent 15 years as PD of KKWD and KYIS. “What an amazing opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Chris Baker who I’ve known for over 21 years,” Mueller said. “My wife and I are thrilled to be back home in OKC, close to our son… and it’s so fun to be working in familiar places with familiar faces. Truly humbled to work with the best sports talent on WWLS. I want to thank Jay Davis and Bruce Gilbert for this opportunity!”
Yannarell (right) remarked, “I’m happy and humbled to have the opportunity to program such a heritage brand in Oklahoma City. 98.9 Kiss FM was a station I grew up listening to on the bus ride to school! Also, I’m super excited to work in tandem again with some great personalities and friends that I had the privilege to work with in the past. Excited for the things ahead!”
