Remembering Dayna Keyes
• We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of veteran Bay Area radio personality, Dayna Keyes, who had been working at Cumulus Classic Rock KSAN (107.7 The Bone). Raised in Los Angeles as the daughter of Keith Knutsen, the late, longtime drummer for the Doobie Brothers, Keyes had previously worked at KFOG and KLLC (Alice @ 97.3)/San Francisco prior to joining The Bone.
A lengthy and loving tribute to Keyes, posted to the Bone website reads in part, “She was a great shining and talented light, with a funny and vibrant personality. On and off the air, Dayna was truly one of a kind.”
Chasta, PD of 107.7 The Bone, said, “Dayna and I met years ago and became instant dear friends. We bonded over our love of the South, skincare, and a great inappropriate joke. She was one of my favorite humans on Earth and every chance I got I told her what a badass she was. She knew exactly how I felt about her, she was just so easy to love. It’s hard to find the words to express the love of a woman so unique and special. Dayna will burn bright as the biggest star in the night sky. I love you my southern Sister.”
While Dayna loved working at The Bone, we are told that her true passion was her inspiring podcast, Radio Rehab, in which she bravely shared her story and the stories of others regarding their battles with addiction.
The Bone sends its love to Dayna’s husband, Bear, Momma Kate, and cat Zippy during this difficult time.
