Dave Frisina: Free Agent

RAMP has confirmed that, after a decade of service at Cumulus Classic Rock station The Rebel/Syracuse, NY, Dave Frisina has exited as his position as PD/pm driver has been eliminated.

Frisina has been a Syracuse radio fixture since 1978, when he first went to work for WAQX (95X). He later spent some time over at WTKW (TK99) and did afternoons on Westwood One Classic Rock. Frisina was aboard when WXTL (106.9 The Rebel) signed on in Jan. 2012, and had ridden the station through its 2019 sale to EMF and the format’s subsequent transition to a streaming-only existence. Frisina was also the host of the popular Sunday specialty shows Soulshine and Soundcheck, both of which are currently in limbo, but may be showing signs of future life.

In 2018 Frisina was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYS), and was inducted into the SAMMYS Hall of Fame.

At press time, TheRebelRocks.com is still streaming music, although the On Air schedule is currently blank.

Frisina shared his candid thoughts — and thanks — in a lengthy Facebook post, which we invite you to read. In the meantime, Dave can be contacted at dafrisina@yahoo.com.
