DJ Wrekk 1: Free Agent
• After a seven-year run as Content Director and afternoon drive personality on Hubbard Urban AC WMBX (X102.3)/West Palm Beach, Don “DJ Wrekk 1” Williams has exited at the end of his deal.
Williams posted the news of his departure on social media, stating, “Palm Beach, Florida, it’s been an honor to be the Urban Adult Contemporary radio station’s on-air personality and Program Director for over 7 years. It seems like yesterday when the city welcomed me with open arms, and I am eternally grateful. I’ve made wonderful friends here, and I’ve learned and accomplished a lot with my team. Thank you everyone for giving me a chance to serve the Palm Beach community. I smile today because we’ve done some great things here. I wish the radio station and listeners the best. I love you all. Peace.”
Interestingly, just last week WMBX was among the Marconi Award finalists for Urban Station of the Year, alongside such standouts as WBTJ/Richmond, VA; WALR/Atlanta; WKYS/Washington, DC and WWPR/New York.
Williams joined WMBX in 2015, coming off a 13-year run with Radio One Urban WHHH (Hot 96)/Indianapolis, the first ten years as MD/nights before he was elevated to MD/middays. Earlier in his career Williams spent six years in St. Louis working for KMJM, WXAJ, KSLZ, KATZ and WFUN.
