Programming Dept: Steele & Cruz
Alpha Media promotes from within, naming James Steele as the new Program Director of Alternative 103.3 The APP (KTFM-HD2)/San Antonio. Steele will relocate to the Alamo City from Biloxi-Gulfport, MS, where he has done afternoon drive on Alpha Media Top 40 WXYK (107.1 The Monkey) since 2015.
Steele is an award-winning producer/personality/voiceover artist whose dulcet tones can be heard on many fine radio stations across America. His extensive resume includes a stretch with CBS Radio Orlando as Production Manager for the cluster and Imaging Director/night jock for Top 40 WJHM (101.9 AMP Radio). He also spent many years in Norfolk as APD/Imaging Director for iHeartRadio’s WNOH (Now 105) and WMOV (MOVin 107.7), preceded by a seven-year run across the street with Sinclair, where he rose to PD of Alternative WROX (96X). He previously worked at WGBT (94.5 The Beat)/Greensboro and WBVD/Melbourne.

• Longtime Little Rock, AR promotions guru and radio personality Matt Cruz has joined Signal Media’s new Country station, KHLR (106.7 The Ride) in the dual role of APD and Promotion & Marketing Director, effective April 24. Since 2005 Cruz has worked across the street as Marketing & Promotion Director for iHeartMedia’s four-station cluster and has been doing weekends on KSSN and KDJE. “I’m very excited to join the crew at 106.7 The Ride, where radio is live, locally owned, and still extremely fun,” said Cruz, adding, “I can’t wait to jump into the first big event, the ‘Pipes & Tails’ bike show and crawfish boil at Dicky-Stephens Park on Saturday, April 29 from 10am-2pm!”
