Mallace Goes Back To School
• UPDATED: The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) in Mesa, AZ welcomes veteran Phoenix radio executive Michael Mallace as the new General Manager of KVIT (88.7 The Pulse), described as “one of the premier high school radio stations in the country.”
Mallace’s local radio management history dates back to the early ’80s and includes sales stints at KNIX, KOOL, KFYI-AM, KEDJ, and his most recent post — a 17-year run as GM of SierraH Broadcasting’s KAJM & KNRJ. Mallace joined EVIT’s Radio/Audio Production program’s advisory board in 2012. He’s a community leader, currently serving on numerous local boards, including the Arizona Broadcasters Association where he was a past chairman, Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication’s endowment board and Seeds for Autism.
“We are very excited to have Michael Mallace join our EVIT Pulse Team,” said Dana Kuhn, Director of Instructional Programs. “His knowledge, background, ideas and enthusiasm will bring new life to 88.7 The Pulse and support our students in their career journeys. We are very fortunate he has joined us.”
“I have come full-circle,” Mallace said. “My career began at my high school radio station. My passion is engaging students and teaching them the skills they need to become exceptional broadcasters. I have been very fortunate in my career through the years and believe in paying it forward by educating the next generation of broadcasters. Having the opportunity to join the extraordinary team and students at EVIT is very gratifying. I could not be more energized!”
