• Audacy has greatly expanded the broadcast reach of Hip-Hop icon Ed Lover with the impending launch of The Ed Lover Experience.
Lover, who joined Audacy Classic Hip Hop WXBK (94.7 The Block)/New York for nights in March 2022, will now be heard nationwide, thanks to the Oct. 17 syndicated rollout of The Ed Lover Experience. In addition to his regular 7-10pm ET slot on 94.7 The Block, The Ed Lover Experience will also be heard from 8pm-midnight CT on WBMX (104.3 Jams)/Chicago; 7-10pm PT on KXQQ (Q100.5)/Las Vegas; 7-10pm PT on KRBQ (102 Jams)/San Francisco and 10am-2pm PT on KHTP (HOT 103.7)/Seattle. The show will also feature music specifically tailored to each respective market during talk breaks.
Lover launched his career in Hip-Hop as one of the original hosts of Yo! MTV Raps! back in the day. In 1993, Lover and Doctor Dre dove into morning radio as the first all-hip-hop morning show on HOT 97/New York. In 1999, Lover and Dre reunited on the west coast, taking over mornings on KKBT (92.3 The Beat)/Los Angeles. Two years later, Lover returned home to New York to become an original on-air talent for iHeartMedia’s WWPR (Power 105.1). In 2010, Lover hosted Backspin on SiriusXM before launching The Ed Lover Show with Monie Love in 2016.
“Ed Lover is the guy who introduced an entire generation to hip-hop, and became arguably the face of hip-hop as it blew up across America,” said Dave Richards, Audacy Senior Vice President of Programming. “Since his days at MTV, Ed has established himself — amongst other things — as a tremendous radio host, and now we’re proud and excited to take this icon nationwide. Look out for The Ed Lover Experience.”
“Life is all about discovering new adventures,” Lover said. “Throughout my career I’ve been lucky enough to do so. I’m excited about this new opportunity to spread love and laughter to so many people!”
