Marco Collins Joins KPNW/Seattle
• Hubbard Triple A 98.9 KPNW/Seattle just added another local radio legend to the on-air line-up — Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Marco Collins is taking over afternoon drive, starting May 1.
“The future of 98.9 KPNW just got a bit brighter with the addition of Marco,” said Scott Mahalick, Operations Manager of Hubbard Seattle. “He is an exceptional talent, with rich knowledge and deep understanding of the local PNW Music scene.”
Indeed, Collins was the flagship personality and Music Director at KNDD (107.7 The End)/Seattle during the ’90s grunge explosion. His role in helping to break artists such as Nirvana, Beck, Weezer, Foo Fighters, and Garbage helped establish him as one of music’s most influential tastemakers, landing him a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and as the subject of the 2015 documentary, The Glamour & The Squalor. Collins joined the on-air staff at crosstown non-comm 90.3 KEXP in 2009 and was there until his recent departure.
“It’s rare that you get an opportunity to join a radio station in its earliest incarnation!” Collins exclaimed. “I can’t wait to see what’s in store for KPNW! It’s an honor that I get to help steer it. Just the fact that we’ll be supporting the local music scene gets me pumped!”
