Among the show’s highlights — Jamie Lynn Spears (sporting a blonde wig) surprised her sister Britney Spears as she joined Hailee Steinfeld, Kelsea Ballerini and Sofia Carson onstage during a tribute performance to Britney, the recipient of the first-ever RDMA Icon Award. Nick Jonas also received the RDMA Hero Award for his philanthropic work with Beyond Type 1 (diabetes).
During the Disney Channel Presents the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards telecast on Sunday evening, viewers on both coasts were treated to a live viewing party on the Radio Disney app and Radio Disney Facebook page, hosted by Radio Disney talent (including Morgan Tompkins and Candice) and social media stars. With over 283 million votes from around the world, the 2017 RDMA tallied its highest numbers yet across six polling platforms: the Radio Disney app, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google One Box and, for the first time, the popular social platform Musical.ly was included, allowing users to vote for the category “Stuck In Our Heads — Best Song To Lip Sync To.” The full list of 2017 RDMA winners is available at Disney.com/RDMA.
