Roberts To Lead CHR For CMG
• Cox Media Group (CMG) has promoted Rob Roberts to Director of CHR Content, effective immediately. Roberts will oversee content, programming, and brand strategies for the company’s contemporary hit-based stations, including WFLC (HITS 97.3)/Miami, WPOI (Hot 101.5)/Tampa, WAPE/Jacksonville and WBLI/Long Island.
Roberts joined CMG in August 2019 as Program Director of Classic Hits KONO 101.1 and Hot AC KSMG (Magic 105.3)/San Antonio, following a stint with Cumulus as corporate VP of Hot AC Programming and PD of the late, great WRQX (Mix 107.3)/Washington DC until its final sign-off on May 31, 2019. Over the course of his three-decade radio career Roberts has also programmed WWWQ (Q99.7)/Atlanta, WHYI (Y100)/Miami, KDMX/Dallas and KXKL/Denver – just to name a few.
“I knew Rob when we competed against each other in the Atlanta market, and I’ve much preferred him as a colleague at CMG,” said Chris Eagan, VP Of Audience and Operations. “He’s highly respected in our company and in the radio industry. I can’t wait to see him lead our award-winning CHR brands to new ratings success.”
“The opportunity to make great radio with the CMG CHR programmers and brands is a dream,” Roberts said. “Thank you to Rob Babin, Chris Eagan and David Abel for making this happen. It’s truly an honor and I’m proud to be part of this team.”
