WTMJ’s Jeff Wagner Announces Retirement
• Good Karma Brands and News-Talk 620 WTMJ/Milwaukee announced that Jeff Wagner, host of The Jeff Wagner Show, weekdays from 12-3pm, will be retiring from the station, effective Dec. 15, closing out a 25-year run.
Speaking of his decision to retire, Wagner said, “No show runs forever, and it has been an honor and a pleasure to host a daily radio talk show in my hometown for a quarter century. I am extremely grateful to Good Karma Brands, my teammates (past and present), our partners, and most importantly, our fans for all their support over the years. While I’m excited to see what comes next, I will truly miss the daily interaction with listeners about the issues of the day.”
Greg Scalzo, Market Manager for Good Karma Brands-Milwaukee, commented, “Jeff is a broadcasting legend whose daily wisdom and dedication to the station was felt by our audience throughout his entire career. His retirement marks the end of an era, and we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind.”
Wagner started as a part-time host at WTMJ in the summer of 1998 and began hosting a full-time show in early November of that year. Before joining WTMJ, Wagner was an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and later an attorney in private practice.
Wagner has been recognized by Talkers as one of the “100 Most Important Radio Talk Show Hosts in America” for nine consecutive years and ten of the last eleven. WTMJ will announce plans for filling the noon to 3pm timeslot later this year.
