‘Supa Cindy’ Leaving WEDR/Miami
• It’s the end of a 25-year reign for “Supa Cindy” Doucet, who took to social media to announce she was resigning from mornings at CMG Urban WEDR (99 Jamz)/Miami.
In a video posted to Instagram over the weekend, Doucet told her fans that she was stepping down to focus on her happiness and mental health. “I’ve kind of outgrown this place,” she said, adding, “I have nowhere else to go… my face is squished to the ceiling.”
Supa Cindy’s history with WEDR dates back to the year 2000, when she got her radio break as an intern and worked her way up to become, in her words, “the Queen of Miami Radio.” By 2004 she was co-hosting the Big Lipp Bandit Morning Show, and returned in 2013 as the local host of the syndicated Rickey Smiley Morning Show. She moved to afternoon drive in 2018, and in Sept. 2022 was elevated to mornings, joining The Pac Jam Morning Show alongside DJ Nasty 305 and Radio Big Mack. She was also featured on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Miami.
In closing, Cindy said, “I want to focus on my happiness… I’m not willing to sacrifice my happiness, or my mental health, for that matter.” Cindy stressed that she is not leaving South Florida and will remain busy with her nonprofit.
